Arkasia’s name is synonymous with Epic Dubstep! His monstrous orchestral compositions are moving, powerful and uplifting, enchanting and haunting. Arkasia has had numerous Beatport #1 releases and for good reason, nobody tells stories with sound quite like him. On the album Phoenix, a new cycle begins the latest chapter of Arkasia’s rise, born from the ashes of a dark past to shine brighter than the sun itself.

This young beat scientist from Switzerland is already making noise with a few releases under his belt on labels like Audiophile, Dirty Duck and Digital Empire. His clean and precise production is definitely beyond his days, some folks just have that knack for making big sounding tunes and Rob is no exception. This 2 track EP showcases his diverse talent with a pair of solid bangers meant for dance floor destruction, a killer Electro monster and a heavy Dubstep anthem both ready for the main stage!

Following up on a massive release from a few of the biggest pioneers in dubstep, we’re proud to present you with another must-have EP from one of the fastest rising stars in bass, Dr. Ozi, two Toronto-based trailblazers who you’re going to be hearing a lot about in 2013.

- You’re next in line for the MyStyle throne – what’s it like to follow the footsteps of Caspa and D1?
I’ve been looking forward to doing the third instalment of the series since I was told it would be my turn. Mystyle 001 and 002 were awesome CDs and they both did really well, so I’m very excited to be next in line. It’s been a long process with writing new music, licensing and filming, so I’m so glad its all finished and is ready to be heard by everyone. Good times right now!
- Your MyStyle is an eclectic fusion of tracks – can you tell us about it?
The mix was almost ready to come out last year alongside my Elements EP, and I had a whole different track list to the one I have now. I had so much new material as the project developed so we decided to use the mix to showcase some unheard tracks from myself. The mix includes a lot of my tracks old and new, plus I wanted to include the people I play in my live sets to keep it authentic and make it feel like you were listening to the energy that I play out live. I’m overly happy about the new Mydas tracks on there, love his style, that guy is really talented. Also featuring on there is Breakage, The Others, Trolley Snatcha, Emalkay, 501, Other Echoes, Dismantle plus many many more from some great producers.
- How did you feel having a camera crew following you around for the documentary?
When I was told we would be filming a documentary I was very excited, but I also thought it would be nerve racking having a crew film me at my trip to Dour festival. At first it was a bit unusual, but Simon and Tom were great guys to be filming with and after the first take everything became more natural, and we had a lot of fun doing it.The first filming session was to follow my whole trip to Dour festival and back. On the second day we filmed my radio appearance at KaneFM in Guildford, to meet my old music production tutors from ACM, it was great catching up with them. The crew then followed me back to my house to film my family and friends, they were pretty nervous at first when I told them I wanted them in the documentary but they were also very keen to have their part in it, haha they were great!
- You were in the USA last year with Dub Police, and you’re now crossing the pond with a 9 date MyStyle tour on your own… how does that feel?
Since I came back from America last year I’ve been wanting to get back out there. Last year was an incredible experience and I’m so glad to be going back for a solo tour, especially with the new MyStyle mix dropping soon. Got some great new material to take with me as well so I can’t wait to see the reactions. Really looking forward to the places I haven’t been yet like Canada, Austin and Seattle but also equally excited to see some familiar faces in LA and Denver.
- What’s next for Subscape?
I’m already talking with Dub Police about the next EP to follow the MyStyle mix. I’ve been hearing some great feedback about “I Need You” so that will be the lead track, then it will also have some new material that isn’t on the MyStyle mix. I’ve been so busy in the studio since the start of the year and I’ve got lots of new material around me at the moment to play with. So its a very exciting time for putting out my music! Once the EP drops I definitely think its time to write my album, and I’ve already got some ideas in the works for it!
- In one word explain each act:
Caspa – Masterchef
The Others – Curb
Trolley Snatcha – Nappies
Mydas – Talented
Dirty Dog – Rottweiler

Canadian DJ/producer Datsik, real name Troy Beetles, is pretty new on the scene, but has quickly made a name for himself in the dubstep and drum ‘n’ bass world with his dark, robotic sound that draws equally from the hip-hop and electronic music worlds. His debut album, “Vitamin D,” features collaborations with mash-up wizard Z-Trip, Infected Mushroom and Korn frontman Jonathan Davis. Catch him during WMC at Space, the Raleigh Hotel, Mekka and both weekends of the Ultra Music Festival – his sets will surely have you walking away saying, “That’s sick.”
